What we do

Design, build, and beyond.

Stace King Designs is a full-service design-build firm in Laguna Beach, California.

We take projects from vision to reality: new construction, full home remodels, custom ADUs, building design, landscaping, custom furniture, interior plants, house organization and closet design, and ongoing maintenance.

We handle every step through city approvals and permits. Under our umbrella are vetted architects and structural engineers, so every detail is in trusted hands.

Our property management services keep your home or investment beautifully cared for long after the project is complete.

Dealing with a red tag? We assist with correcting violations and getting the proper permits, bringing your property back into compliance.

01 / Design vision & planning

A clear direction.
A home that’s yours.

A favorite photograph, a piece you’ve collected, a feeling you want to create. We start with what speaks to you and shape those ideas into a cohesive direction for your home.

Color, texture, scale, and the way you move through a room all have a part to play. Together, we explore the possibilities and make space for both the things you love and the way you want to live.

  • Inspiration & mood boards
  • Color & material palettes
  • Room layouts & flow
  • Design priorities & direction

02 / Renovations & material selections

Big possibilities.
Beautifully resolved.

The right finishes can change the entire feeling of a space. The grain of a cabinet, the warmth of a floor, the way a tile catches the light—each choice becomes part of a larger story.

For kitchens, bathrooms, and broader renovations, we help bring those decisions into focus. We consider how materials look together, how they feel to use, and how they fit the character of your home.

03 / Project coordination

Care for the details.
Clarity along the way.

A renovation brings plenty of moving parts. We help connect your design vision with the people and decisions that bring it to life, working alongside your architect, contractor, and trades.

From introductions and bid coordination to guidance on permitting steps and finish decisions during construction, we help you navigate the process with a clear point of reference: the home you’re working toward.

  • Architect & contractor collaboration
  • Trade introductions & bid coordination
  • Design decisions during construction
  • Finish & detail coordination

04 / Furnishings, styling & finishing

The layers that
make it feel like home.

Comfortable seating. A beautiful light. Art that means something to you. The finishing layers give a room its personality and make it a place you want to spend time.

We bring furniture, textiles, lighting, and personal pieces into conversation with one another. The aim is a collected, welcoming space that feels natural to live in, with room for your life to keep unfolding.

Bring your rooms together

The experience

A thoughtful process.
A personal result.

Every home has a different starting point. We shape the scope around your priorities, keeping the conversation open and the design connected from one decision to the next.

  1. Listen.

We get to know your home, your routines, and what you hope to change. Bring your inspiration, questions, and the things you already love.

  2. Explore.

We connect your ideas through layouts, colors, and materials, giving the project a clear visual direction and room for discovery.

  3. Refine.

We work through the selections together, considering comfort, function, and the details that make each room feel part of the whole.

  4. Bring it home.

We help carry the design through the agreed scope, coordinating details and adding the final layers that make the space your own.

Before we begin

A few things
you may be wondering.

You don’t need to have every answer. A conversation is a good place to start.

Ask us about your home
Do I need a clear design vision before we start?

No. You might have a folder full of inspiration or simply know that something isn’t working. We’ll help you find the connections, identify what matters most, and develop a direction that feels right for your home.

Can we start with just one room?

Yes. A single room can make a meaningful difference to the way you live. We’ll discuss your priorities and the level of support you’re looking for, then define a scope that makes sense for the space.

When should I bring a designer into a renovation?

Early conversations are especially helpful. Thinking about room layouts, materials, lighting, and the overall feeling before major decisions are finalized gives the design more room to develop as a whole.

Will you collaborate with my architect or contractor?

We can work alongside your existing team or help with introductions when needed. Clear communication around the design, selections, and responsibilities helps everyone work toward the same vision.

How do we approach the budget and timeline?

We start by discussing your priorities, budget, and the scope of the project. The work involved, construction schedule, and product availability all help shape the timeline. Those early conversations give us a practical foundation for the decisions ahead.
